  • Day 1: Siem Reap – Vientiane (D)

    Check in for your morning flight to Vientiane. On arrival, you will be met by your English speaking guide and then transferred to the hotel for check-in. For arrival from a different location, please enquire.

    This afternoon, enjoy a half day guided tour to discover the hidden charms of Vientiane, whose name means ‘the city of sandal wood’. The first stop is the serene Wat Sisaket, the only temple left intact after the Siamese invasion in 1828. One of the most beautiful temples in the capital, its breezy teak covered hallways are filled with thousands of miniature Buddha statues. From here we continue to the nearby Wat Phra Keo and the Presidential Palace (viewed from outside), which formerly served as the French governor’s palace. Then we move on to That Luang. Constructed by King Setthethirat in the 16th century, this temple is considered the holiest site in Laos. We end the tour by climbing to the roof of for sweeping panoramic views of the city.

    This evening, your guide will take you to Khua Lao Restaurant for a welcome dinner.

    Day 2: Vientiane – Luang Prabang (B/L)

    After a leisurely breakfast, transfer to the airport for your late morning flight to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check-in.

    After lunch at local restaurant, your guide will lead you on an orientation tour of this unique town. First, we visit a Vat (temple) where there may be a chance to meet with monks or novices and get some insight into the spiritual life of Laotians as well as life in the city. Next we move on to the former Royal Palace. Now the National Museum, it is home to exhibits of art and jewels from the former royal family. As today comes to a close, we climb the 328 stairs of Mount Phousi to watch the sun set against the stunning backdrop of the city and surrounding hills, although out adventure doesn’t stop here! Next we move on to the colourful Hill Tribe evening market for some shopping. Starting around 5pm along the main streets of town, it is a great place to look for souvenirs.

    Overnight in Luang Prabang

    Day 3: Luang Prabank – Pak Ou (B/L)

    After breakfast, we head to the peninsula where the Mekong meets the Nam Khan Rivers, where we visit Wat Xieng Thong. This symbol of the city, adorned with golden gates and ornaments, glitters in the morning light. From here, we board a private longboat and gently sail through the stunning scenery of the upper Mekong to the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, carved out of a towering limestone cliff. On entering the cave we will view the thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues hiding inside. As we cruise back to Luang Prabang, we’ll stop at Ban Xang Hay. This village specializes in making traditional rice-wine, so be sure to try the local brew!

    Lunch at Couleur Café is followed by free time to explore further explore this charmoing town on your own. Your guide will be onhand to offer suggestions, if required.

    Day 4: Lunag Prabang – Kuang Si (B/L)

    After breakfast, we travel southwest into the countryside to the Kuang Si Waterfalls. Along the way there will be opportunities to view the the beautiful landscapes of rice fields, hills, small villages and scenic spots overlooking the Mekong River. Upon reaching Kuang Si Waterfall, relax and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. The water cascades gently in to several clear pools where you can enjoy a refreshing swim. If you’re feeling energietc, there is the option to walk to the top of the falls via a steep track where stunning views await you at the top. After a gourmet picnic lunch served next to the falls, we depart for the Bear Rescue Centre where we can learn about the protection of this endangered species. On the way back to Luang Prabang we stop by several villages where you will discover more about Kamu way of living and the traditional handicrafts of weaving, Sa paper making and silver-smithery.

    The rest of the evening is left free for your leisure.

    Day 5: Luang Prabang – UK/Onward journey (B)

    After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport for your flight home or to your onward destination.
